Shenfield Christmas Fayre

On Sunday 9th December, Shenfield hosted their annual Christmas Fayre. The day of festive fun in Hutton Road included a variety of entertainment, performances and activities for all the family. Co-sponsored by BBP, local businesses worked with Brentwood Borough Council to put on the event which included lots of activities in the shops with live bands, lucky dips and family games.

Baytree Christmas

Sponsored by BBP, the Baytree Christmas Party event took place on Saturday 17th November offering a fantastic family day out, packed with Christmas activities and attractions. The event brought together several retailers including the Chicken and Frog bookshop and Razzamataz Theatre School performances. The event was highly successful in attracting people into the Town Centre and provided the community with a great Christmas event to kickstart the festive period.

Shenfield Halloween in the High Street

Halloween on the High Street took place on 31 October on Hutton Road, Shenfield. The event consists of a spooky sweet trail across the High street in which participants would eneter shops to find clues to to claim prizes and entry into a competition. This was followed up by a flash mob street performance from local Schools and theatre groups.

Baytree Holloween

The Baytree Centre's Brentwood Spooktacular Halloween Event took place on the 27th October 2018 with great Halloween activities on offer for all. BBP sponsored the event that encouraged footfall into the centre of Brentwood High Street during the day.

Brentwood Loves GOSH

On 30th June BBP sponsored a charity fun day at the Baytree Centre in Brentwood, which was run by a combination of BBP, the Baytree Centre and local businesses. Apart from offering a great day out for everyone, especially families, it is a major fund-raising event - in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital - GOSH.

On Wednesday 7th February thebusiness partnership group formerly known as the Brentwood Borough Renaissance Group re-launched itself as the Brentwood Business Partnership (BBP).

Brentwood Children’s Literary Festival

Now a well-established event organised by local independent book store, Chicken & Frog, the Brentwood Children’s Literary Festival brings well known authors and illustrators to the town for a week long series of talks and workshops.

Shenfield Summer Jazz Afternoon

One Sunday each summer, Shenfield’s traders organise a family friendly afternoon of free live music for the community to enjoy.

Brentwood Art Trail

Part of the Essex Summer of Art, the Brentwood Art Trail gives local artists the opportunity to display their works in shops and cafés who volunteer to be ‘pop up’ art galleries for two weeks.

Crown Street Tea Party

Now a well-established event organised by local independent book store, Chicken & Frog, the Brentwood Children’s Literary Festival brings well known authors and illustrators to the town for a week long series of talks and workshops.

Brentwood Pumpkin Hunt

Retailers in the town centre participate in events such as the Pumpkin Hunt and Santa Hunt, giving families the chance to follow free trails in and around the High Street.

Shenfield Easter Egg Hunt

Working together, Shenfield’s traders display Easter egg posters in their shop windows, creating a fun and interactive ‘hunt’ with donated prizes for all participants.

Refurbishment of Brentwood Finger Post Signs

Town Centre finger post signs were painted and updated to help residents and visitors more easily identify retail areas, key amenities and parking. The damaged Crown Street notice board was also replaced.

Translation and Presentation of Brentwood Medieval Market Charters

The Medieval Market Charters of 1227 and 1252 were found, translated from Latin onto vellum and the replicas presented to the Council for public display and educational projects. The two market charters were granted by Henry 111 and provide for a weekly market and annual fair.

Brentwood Business Enterprise Centre Project

Support for joint feasibility study with Brentwood Borough Council, Essex County Council, Brentwood Chamber of Commerce and Havering College to introduce an incubator business and training centre for the Borough.

CLUSTERS

Upper Shenfield

Upper Shenfield offers customers a relaxed shopping and dining experience with its mix of specialist retail shops, café, butcher, bakery and professional services. Free parking is available along Hutton Road for up to 2 hours.

Central Shenfield

Located close to Shenfield Station you will find a warm welcome from a varied range of independent shops, restaurants, cafes and hair and beauty services, customers travel from near and far to sample this niche shopping experience.

Brentwood West End

Featuring a wide range of independent shops, florists, restaurants, cafés, bars, salons, vintage clothing, and kitchen designers, this cluster encompasses the western end of the High Street, Crown Street and King’s Road.

Brentwood East End

Reaching from Wilson’s Corner down towards Crown Street, the eastern end of the town centre includes many national retailers such as Marks and Spencer, independent shops and cafés, salons, and banks.

BRENTWOOD BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP FUNDING APPLICATION FORM

Brentwood Borough Council funding to the Brentwood Business Partnership (BBP) involves the following process for project bid funding:

  • Bids must demonstrate how funding will meet Brentwood Borough Council’s priorities within the Vision for Brentwood, such as a thriving local economy.

  • Bids must contain a high level breakdown of how the funding will be spent to meet these priorities. Normally approved bids will receive funding at the current rate of 75%, with the bid applicant putting the balancing 25%. BBP would encourage applicants to include sponsorship funding or gifts in kind from a party/ies other than Brentwood Borough Council.

  • As part of any bid application the BBP will expect the appointment of an event/project leader to oversee the project. Project progress updates will be asked for at the BBP regular meetings and a project evaluation submitting on completion.

  • Event/project advertising and publicity must give recognition to the funding support given by the BBP and the logo where possible, supported with project/event photographs which are to be submitted to the media co-ordinator of the BBP.
